Attach file   Aplication Form for AASA Financial Support-20060616-Revised.doc

TO: AASA Members

Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to inform you that InterAcademy Panel (IAP) provided AASA a subsidy through TWAS and total of about US$10,000 will be distributed among AASA member academies to support their scientific meetings such as workshops, seminars and symposia related to AASA joint programs. Unfortunately the amount of total money is not much, therefore depending on place and type of meeting, only maximum of $2500 will be given for a meeting. Those meetings should be held in 2006 or 2007.

It is very important that all AASA member academies are informed of and invited to the meetings which are selected to be financially supported by AASA and IAP. Meetings with only local participants WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED with this source. It is highly recommended to make due acknowledgement of AASA, TWAS, and IAP’s financial supports in all related publications and documents.

AASA General Assembly, with the recommendation of Board Members, will make the decision which meeting(s) could receive the subsidy. The subsidy could be utilized for covering partial airfares of selected participants from AASA member countries and expenses related to the meeting.

We are hoping that we will provide more support for AASA scientific activities in the future. Do not hesitate to write if you have any question or comments about these activities.

Please complete the attached form and send it to AASA Secretariat no later than October 31, 2006.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Namik K. Aras
Secretary General
