Request for Opinions and Proposals on AASA Joint Projects
To: Presidents of AASA Member Academies:
First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your contribution to the development of AASA. There have been various AASA Joint Projects as follows: - Clean Water: A Step Forward - Food Resources and Security - Disaster Mitigation - Biotechnology - Cultural Heritage - Renewable Energy - Risk Governance - Seismic Risk Mitigation in Asian Countries - Ethnic and Cultural Interactions of Nations in Eurasia
The joint projects were initiated to develop cooperation in the domain of science and technology and to facilitate exchange of scientists and information among AASA countries.
I do believe that it is the time for AASA to take next step on joint projects to further carry out the mission and realize the vision of AASA. AASA is planning to select one or two strategic research projects, and support them financially.
In this regards, I would like to ask you to send AASA Secretariat a proposal of joint project which could be among the existing projects mentioned above or a new project focused on common problems AASA member countries are confronted with. Whether you propose a joint project among the existing projects or new joint project, please fill the necessary information in the attached form and send it to the Secretariat by April 13, 2007. I also would like to request for your comments and suggestions on the ongoing joint projects listed above which of course will continue as before. Your proposals and comments would be highly appreciated and will be discussed at AASA Board Meeting to be held on August 25~27, 2007.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Jinghai Li President
