The International Conference on Science Education in Asia and the Pacific was hosted by the Science Society of Thailand, Thailand Academy of Science and Technology, Chulalongkorn University, National Science Museum, and the Foundation for the Promotion of Academic Olympiad and Development of Science Education. The conference was co-organized by the Science Society of Thailand, Association of Academies of Sciences in Asia (AASA), and the Federation of Asian Scientific Academies and Societies (FASAS), and supported by the InterAcademy Panel (IAP), AASA, and FASAS.
The opening ceremony was presided by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the education minister. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn made a congratulatory speech which well represented a deep national interest in the international event. The opening ceremony was followed by plenary lectures.
